Bridging the gap for Southland Residents in Temporary Crisis

tina-hennis-4-12-13-007A prevention agency, based in Tinley Park, Illinois, Together We Cope provides resources to families in temporary crisis, enabling them to stay in their homes.
Since 1982, we have been bridging the gap for south suburban residents in 27 communities by supplying food, shelter, clothing and referrals, empowering them to return to self-sufficiency.
With 200 volunteers, generous community donations of food, clothing and household goods, and groceries purchased from the Greater Chicago Food Depository, TWC serves over 1,400 families each month.

Of every dollar donated to Together We Cope, 93 cents goes to client programs and services.    [Read more]

‘Super-generous’ donors making the holiday bright for Together We Cope
If anyone asks where the North Pole is located, tell them it’s in Tinley Park.
It’s true: dozens of elves are busy poring over Christmas wish lists for south suburban children every day, lining up everything from footballs to dolls from the movie, Frozen, at a secret location in the village. The elves are volunteers at Together We Cope, the homeless prevention agency that serves 27 south suburban communities. A mountain of toys, warm pajamas and other goodies have been donated by generous area residents, businesses and community groups who support TWC’s annual Adopt a Child program. Dozens of food drives from the community, including donations of turkeys and hams, have stocked the pantry as well. [Read more]

Student chefs turn to food pantry for January cook-off
The most creative cook would struggle to make a great dinner from wax beans or sardines packed in soybean oil. If you’re a food pantry client, you may have plenty of nutritious ingredients like these on hand, but it can be challenging to feed your family with foods you haven’t chosen.
To help these clients, 18 culinary students will create great dishes using only food pantry staples for a panel of professional chef judges at the Food Pantry Challenge at 7 pm January 26, 2015 at Robert Morris University, 82 Orland Park Drive, Orland Park.  [Read more]
