Pitching in on ‘Days of Sharing’
Volunteers from Firemen’s Fund Insurance Company in Chicago staffed Together We Cope’s food pantry and resale shop recently as part of their firm’s “Days of Sharing” program.
     The company encourages its employees to work a day at a local nonprofit agency as part of their normal work week. Seven volunteers from Firemen’s chose Together We Cope for their efforts. They are Athena Kick of Tinley Park, Rose Angone of Monee, Beverly Nesbitt of Chicago, Debora Kasput of Oak Forest, Denise Miletich of Alsip, Bill Byrnes of Tinley Park and Kevin Keith of Orland Park.
     Many of the volunteers enjoyed working in the food pantry and seeing firsthand how TWC assists local families in need. “I really get a feel for what people are going through when I work here,” said Athena Kick, who has volunteered previously at our agency. “Stocking the shelves with the donated food and filling the grocery bags as the families come in – it really gives you a picture of how this place works.”
